About Bloomsbury
Hello and thank you for looking in at Bloomsbury Trading Knitting Accessories Website. Paul and I would like to extend a warm welcome to all our visitors. Bloomsbury has evolved on the back of our retail business and also from Karen's passion for textiles and yarn.
I had been collecting many different yarns for months, which led to the idea for running a textiles business. In combination with Paul's increasingly ridiculous commuting for work, the decision was made to start something of our own. My love of yarns, knitting and crochet produced the idea for Bloomsbury and also the endless searches for quality products that aren't readily found in the UK. I found wonderful buttons, knitting and crochet patterns, needles and vintage items and felt that sharing these 'finds' would create the nucleus for something special in business terms.
Having been taught to knit by one grandmother and to crochet by another, a yarn stash has been ever present. That combined with an artist mother, it was a forgone conclusion that the love of arts would grow. The knitting needles haven't been clicking away for all of those years. There was a long gap when life in London and the frantic pace meant that knitting was shelved for a while. How I wish I had thought about the advantages of "finger yoga" back then and the relaxation it could have brought with it! Paul's wide-ranging business expertise and strong desire to branch out into something completely different has also greatly enhanced the service we can offer. So this is very much a team production.
